Veteran event planner Jenny Oz LeRoy will provide some crucial tools you will need when planning a wedding during this pandemic.

What do I need to know about planning a wedding during COVID-19? Where can I have the wedding? How many guests can I have? Do we have to wear masks?

These are just a few of the questions any bride and groom trying to plan a wedding is asking themselves right now. Here are some essential tools to getting through this: first of all you must be flexible. We know that this is easier said then done, but the facts are things are changing everyday and you have to be able to go with the flow and pivot when you need too. Second, you must have a wedding planner. Navigating these times and planning any sort of gathering without a planner is like going out to sea without a captain. There are a lot of rules and regulations for any size event and you want to make sure you follow them and respect your venue, guests, staff and vendors.

If being flexible is not in your personality then you are better off postponing the event 100%.

Think of it this way: do you want to look back in 25 years and say that you didn't have the wedding you dreamt of or that you waited a year and had the wedding of your dreams?

Of course if you just want to marry the person you love, with your family and closest friends around, now is the time for love. More than ever 2020 is showing us to cherish the time with our loved ones and not to sweat the small stuff. If you decide to postpone your event, it may sting for a few days but then you will feel a sense of relief from all questions from your guests and you can press pause and pick up on wedding planning in a few months.

But if you have your eye on the prize, and can answer these questions with a 'yes' you will have little issues making a wedding happen for 2020.

Q: Are you ok with a smaller group of 50 people or possible only 25 people?

Q: Are you ok if you do not have a follow up bigger wedding/event in the next two years?

Q: Will you be ok if certain friends do not come to the wedding if they are not comfortable going to an event at this time?

Q: Will you be ok if guests want to wear masks?

If you answered yes to all of these then planning an event for 2020 will be relatively uncomplicated for you and your planner.

What are the posivites of planning a wedding during this time?

You can also do some upgrades that you would never have been able to do with a larger size wedding. Our advice: ask your florist and culinary team what they would suggest as an upgrade. Smaller special events can allow for much more detail and intricate additions that will last forever as memories of your romantic filled wedding day during a time with the world needs love more than ever.

If done correctly you will over all save money and can spend that extra chunk of change on a house, vacation or kitchen re-do!
